For people Meta's Ads MCP doesn't work for yet

6 reasons to use AdChat while Meta's Ads MCP isn't on your account yet

By Eric, founder of AdChat · Updated · 4 min read

Meta's official Ads MCP server is free and good. It's also in open beta and switched on one ad account at a time, with no schedule and no way to ask for access. If you've hit the rollout message, here's the case for using AdChat in the meantime, or alongside it. (If you're seeing a different error, the Meta Ads MCP troubleshooting guide covers each one.)

It works on your ad account today, not when Meta gets to it

Meta's server checks a per-account flag (is_ads_mcp_enabled). AdChat doesn't depend on it. It uses Meta's standard Marketing API with Standard Access as an approved Meta app, the same API every ads tool has used for years. If you can manage the account in Ads Manager, AdChat can read it.

It works in the apps Meta's server doesn't

Meta's server only lets in the AI apps it supports (ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code and Perplexity), which is why others fail with invalid_client_metadataor “Dynamic registration is not available for this client”. AdChat works in Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and any app that accepts a remote MCP URL.

    Setup takes about a minute

Paste https://mcp.adchat.app as a custom connector, sign in to AdChat, connect Facebook, pick your ad accounts. No Business Suite settings to find, no developer app to create, no tokens to copy.

    Read-only until you decide otherwise

Meta doesn't document a read-only mode for its server. AdChat starts read-only. When you turn on write access, new campaigns, ad sets and ads start paused. Useful if you're testing AI on a real account and want to see the answers before you trust the actions.

    Use both, no lock-in

When Meta enables your account, you can add its server next to AdChat and compare them on the same questions, and keep whichever answers better. AdChat still covers the apps Meta doesn't support and the agent features. Nothing to migrate either way. Here's an honest side-by-side.

A note from the founder

AdChat is new, small and independent, so you won't find thousands of reviews here yet. What you get instead: I read every email myself, and the free plan needs no card, so you can judge it on your own account. If something doesn't work for you, write to me at [email protected].

Frequently Asked Questions

When will Meta enable the Ads MCP on my account?
Meta hasn't published a schedule, and there's no form to request access. Their help center says that if you don't see Ads MCP server under Settings, then Integrations, in Meta Business Suite, you don't have it yet. Check every week or so.
Is AdChat as capable as Meta's server?
For day-to-day work, yes: 55 tools to read results with breakdowns, create and edit campaigns, ad sets and ads, upload images, search targeting and build audiences. Meta's server adds catalog management and signal diagnostics, which AdChat doesn't have; AdChat has agent features Meta's doesn't (drafts, undo, spend rules, alerts).
Can I use AdChat and Meta's Ads MCP together?
Yes. They're separate connectors. Add both to Claude or ChatGPT and use whichever you prefer.
Is it safe to connect a client's ad account?
AdChat starts read-only, stores the Facebook token encrypted, and you can disconnect from Settings or from Facebook at any time. New things it creates start paused.
What if I only need it until Meta enables my account?
Start on the free plan, or one month of Connect at $29. There's no contract, and the free plan needs no card.
