How to Connect Facebook Ads to Claude with AdChat

Add AdChat to Claude as a custom connector in about two minutes. Paste one URL, sign in, and ask Claude about your Meta ads in plain English.

Updated October 24, 2026

This guide shows you how to connect your Facebook and Instagram ads to Claude using AdChat. When you're done, you can open a chat in Claude and ask things like "Which ad wasted the most money this week?" and get an answer based on your live Meta ads data. It works in Claude on the web and in the Claude desktop app, because both share the same connectors.

AdChat is an MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI apps like Claude plug into other tools. You don't need to know how it works. You only need to paste one URL.

What you need

  • An AdChat account with your Facebook ad account connected. If you haven't done this yet, sign up, click Connect Facebook, and pick the ad accounts you want AdChat to see.
  • A Claude account. Anthropic says custom connectors work on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. Free accounts are limited to one custom connector, so if you already use one, you'll need to remove it or upgrade.

Step 1: Copy the AdChat server URL

Open your AdChat dashboard and go to Claude & ChatGPT in the sidebar. Click Copy URL. It is the same for everyone:

https://mcp.adchat.app

There's no key in this URL. Claude will ask you to sign in to AdChat in the next steps, and that sign-in links Claude to your account.

Step 2: Add AdChat as a custom connector

Shortcut: open the Add custom connector dialog in Claude directly and pick up at item 3 below. Or get there yourself.

On a Pro or Max plan:

  1. In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors. (Older versions of Claude call this Settings → Connectors.)
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Enter AdChat as the name.
  4. Paste https://mcp.adchat.app as the remote MCP server URL and click Continue.
  5. Claude detects how AdChat handles sign-in. Leave the detected settings as they are and continue.
  6. Click Add.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector once under Organization settings → Connectors. After that, each member goes to Customize → Connectors, finds AdChat in the list, and clicks Connect.

Step 3: Sign in to AdChat

A browser window opens. Sign in to AdChat with the same account you used to connect Facebook (or connect Facebook now if you haven't yet), and click Allow. You're sent back to Claude, and AdChat now shows as connected. You only do this once. Claude stays connected as long as you use AdChat at least once every 90 days.

You never give Claude your Facebook password or token. Claude talks to AdChat, and AdChat talks to Meta's Marketing API on your behalf.

Step 4: Turn it on in a chat

Start a new chat. Click the + button at the bottom left of the message box, open Connectors, and make sure AdChat is switched on. Then ask your first question:

How did my Facebook ads do over the last 7 days? Show spend, results and cost per result for each campaign.

Claude will call AdChat's tools (you'll see them appear in the chat) and answer with numbers from your account. For more ideas, see Your first 10 questions to ask.

Claude lets you decide, tool by tool, whether it can use a connector's tools freely or has to ask first. Open AdChat in Customize → Connectors and look at its tool permissions. The usual options are Always allow, Needs approval and Blocked.

A sensible setup:

  • Always allow for read tools, like get_insights, get_campaigns and get_ads. These only look at data.
  • Needs approval for write tools, like create_campaign, update_campaign, update_adset and create_ad. Claude will stop and show you exactly what it wants to change before anything happens.

This matters once you turn on write access. AdChat is read-only by default, so the write tools refuse to run until you flip the switch in your dashboard. Read Turn on write access (and stay safe) before you do.

On Team and Enterprise plans, owners may set these permissions for everyone. If you can't change them, ask your workspace owner.

Troubleshooting

Claude says it couldn't connect or the sign-in window closes. Check that you pasted exactly https://mcp.adchat.app with no spaces. The old AdChat address no longer works. Remove the connector, add it again with the new URL, and sign in.

AdChat is connected but Claude doesn't use it. Make sure the connector is switched on for this chat (the + button, then Connectors). Mentioning "my Facebook ads" or "my Meta ads" in your question also helps.

Claude says no ad accounts were found. Go to your AdChat dashboard and check that Facebook is connected and at least one ad account is selected.

A tool says to turn on write access. That's the read-only default doing its job. Turn on Write Access in your dashboard if you want Claude to make changes.

You're on the Free plan and can't add it. Free accounts can only have one custom connector. Remove the other one, or use AdChat's built-in chat instead.

FAQ

Does this work in the Claude desktop app? Yes. Connectors you add in Claude are available on the web and in the desktop app.

Can I use an API key instead of signing in? You don't need one. Claude signs in to AdChat directly. The adchat_ key is only a fallback for apps that can't sign in.

Can Claude change my ads without asking? Not by default. AdChat is read-only until you turn on write access, new campaigns, ad sets and ads are created paused, and "Needs approval" makes Claude ask before each change.

What about Claude Code? That's a separate setup in your terminal. See Connect AdChat to Claude Code.
