AdChat Is an Approved Meta App: What That Means for You
AdChat passed Meta's App Review and has Standard Access to the Marketing API. Here's what the ads_read, ads_management and business_management permissions allow.

AdChat is an approved Meta app. It went through Meta's App Review and has Standard Access to the Marketing API, with the permissions ads_read, ads_management and business_management approved. This page explains what that means in practice, why it matters when you hand an AI access to your ads, and what it doesn't mean.
What Meta App Review is
Any app that wants to work with other people's Facebook data has to be registered with Meta. For sensitive permissions, like reading or managing ad accounts, Meta requires the app to go through App Review before it can use them with the public.
In App Review, the app developer explains what each permission is for and shows Meta how the app uses it. Meta checks that the use matches its rules and its platform terms. If it doesn't, the permission is refused. Approval is per permission, so an app only gets what it has justified.
The permissions AdChat has
Meta lists every permission in its Permissions Reference. These are the three AdChat asks for when you connect Facebook, and what each one lets it do:
- ads_read: read ad reporting for ad accounts you own or have been given access to. This is how AdChat answers questions about spend, clicks, reach, conversions and cost per result.
- ads_management: read and manage ad accounts you own or have been given access to. This lets AdChat create campaigns, edit ad sets and ads, and pull performance data. AdChat only makes changes when you've turned on write access and asked for something.
- business_management: work with your Meta Business assets, such as ad accounts. This helps AdChat find the ad accounts you manage through a business.
Approval doesn't mean AdChat can see everything. You still pick which ad accounts to share on Meta's login screen, and AdChat can only reach accounts you already have a role on.
What Standard Access to the Marketing API means
The Marketing API is Meta's official way for software to work with ads. It's the same API used by the other ad tools you may know. Standard Access means Meta has reviewed AdChat's use of the API and allowed it, rather than the app running in an unreviewed test mode.
For you, the practical upshot is simple: AdChat talks to your ads through Meta's own front door, with Meta's knowledge. It works on any ad account you can manage in Ads Manager, and it doesn't depend on Meta's separate Ads MCP rollout reaching your account.
Why it matters for safety and reliability
You log in with Facebook, not with a password you hand over. AdChat never sees your Facebook password. Meta shows you exactly what AdChat is asking for, and you can remove its access from your Facebook settings at any time.
Meta has checked the use case. An approved app has explained to Meta what it does with each permission. That's a meaningful step up from an unreviewed app or a script passing around a personal token.
It's built to last. Unreviewed apps can be limited or cut off. Working through approved permissions and the official API means fewer surprises and steadier access over time.
AdChat adds its own guardrails on top. Meta's approval covers what AdChat may do. AdChat itself is read-only until you switch on write access, creates new campaigns, ad sets and ads paused, and never acts without being asked. Details are on the security page.
What it does not mean
To be precise:
- It's not a Meta Business Partner badge. Meta runs a separate Business Partners program for agencies and tech companies. AdChat is not a Meta Business Partner and doesn't claim to be.
- It's not an endorsement. Meta approving an app's permissions doesn't mean Meta recommends or vouches for the product.
- It's not Meta's own product. AdChat is a small, independent tool. Meta also offers its own free Ads MCP for some accounts and AI apps. You can use both.
- It doesn't replace your judgment. The AI can still misunderstand a request. Keep write access off until you need it, and read every change before you confirm it.
