Managing Client Facebook Ad Accounts With AI: For Freelancers

How freelancers and small agencies can run up to three client Meta ad accounts with AdChat, write prompts that name the right account, and know the honest limits.

Updated October 24, 2026

If you look after Facebook and Instagram ads for a few clients, most of your week goes on the same loop: check each account, fix what's broken, report back. Doing that by chatting with AI can cut a lot of the clicking. This guide shows how to set AdChat up for client work, how to avoid mixing up accounts, and where the limits are, so you can decide whether it fits.

Who this is for

Freelance media buyers, consultants and very small agencies managing a handful of Meta ad accounts. If you manage dozens of accounts with a team, read the limits section first.

What you need

  • An AdChat account. One plan covers up to 3 ad accounts. See pricing.
  • Access to each client's ad account on your own Facebook profile. AdChat sees the ad accounts your Facebook login can manage in Ads Manager. Usually the client adds you, or your business portfolio, as a partner or person with access in their Meta Business settings.
  • AdChat connected to your AI app, or the built-in chat at adchat.app.
  • Write access turned on only if you want to make changes from chat. It's off by default.

Step 1: Connect the right accounts

When you connect Facebook in AdChat, you pick which ad accounts to share. Choose the client accounts you actually manage, up to three. Then check:

List my ad accounts with their names, IDs, currency, time zone and status.

What a good answer looks like: each client account by name, with its ID. Note the IDs somewhere; they make prompts unambiguous.

Step 2: Always name the account

This is the most important habit. With several accounts connected, a prompt like "pause the summer campaign" could match the wrong client. Start every prompt with the account name or ID:

For the ad account "Bloom Florist", show last 7 days by campaign: spend, results and cost per result.

In ad account act_1234567890 (Northside Dental), pause the ad set "Teeth Whitening - Broad".

A good habit for change requests is to ask for confirmation of the account too:

Before you change anything, repeat back which ad account, campaign and ad set you're about to edit.

AdChat's built-in chat lists the exact change and asks for confirmation before any write. Most AI apps also ask you to approve the action.

Step 3: Run a client check-up loop

A simple Monday routine for three clients:

For each of my connected ad accounts, give me a one-paragraph summary of last week vs the week before: spend, results, cost per result, and the biggest change. Then list anything that needs my attention today, by account.

Then dig into each account with the prompts in the weekly check-up guide. Keep each client's deeper work in a separate chat so the context doesn't blend.

Step 4: Make changes, one client at a time

With write access on, typical client tasks look like this:

For "Bloom Florist", lower the daily budget of "Valentine's Prospecting" from $60 to $45.

For "Northside Dental", create a paused ad set in "New Patients" targeting a 10 mile radius around their clinic, ages 25 to 65, $25 a day.

New campaigns, ad sets and ads are created paused, which is useful with clients: build it, send a screenshot from Ads Manager for approval, then turn it on.

Step 5: Report to each client

For "Bloom Florist", write a weekly client report: three-sentence summary, results table vs last week, what changed and why, and next steps. Plain English, under 300 words.

Review it, add your notes, and paste it into your email or doc. The full process is in the weekly report guide.

The honest limits

AdChat is built to be simple. That means some agency features aren't there:

  • Up to 3 ad accounts per plan. If you manage more, AdChat may not be the right fit today.
  • No team seats or shared logins. One person per AdChat account. Clients and colleagues can't log in to your workspace.
  • No bulk edits or duplication. Changes happen one at a time, through conversation.
  • No scheduled automations. AdChat doesn't run rules, send reports or make changes on its own. It acts when you ask.
  • Meta only. No Google, TikTok or other platforms.
  • No video or customer-list uploads. Do those in Ads Manager, then use them from chat.

If those are fine for how you work, the upside is a single simple price, plain-English control, and read-only by default, which matters when it's a client's money.

Common mistakes

  • Not naming the account. The single biggest risk with multiple clients. Name it every time.
  • Turning on write access before you need it. Leave it off while you're only analysing. Turn it on when you're ready to make changes.
  • Mixing clients in one long chat. Start a fresh chat per client for deeper work.
  • Activating without client sign-off. Use the paused default to get approval first.
  • Sharing your AdChat key. Treat it like a password. If it leaks, roll it in the dashboard.

FAQ

Can I swap which three accounts are connected? Your connected accounts come from what you select when you connect Facebook. Reconnect and choose a different set if a client leaves.

Can my client see what I asked the AI? No. Your conversations happen in your own AI app or your own AdChat login, not in the client's ad account. Share the results you choose to share.

Does each client need their own AdChat account? No. You need access to their ad account on your Facebook profile, and you connect it to your AdChat account.

What happens if my trial ends mid-month? Your account and Facebook connection stay, but the tools pause with a "Subscribe" message until you pick a plan.
