Write a Weekly Facebook Ads Report for a Client or Boss With AI

Turn your Facebook and Instagram ad results into a clear weekly report by chatting with AI: compare weeks, explain the changes, and share it with a client or boss.

Updated October 24, 2026

Reporting is the part of advertising nobody enjoys. You export numbers, paste them into a spreadsheet, try to explain why cost per lead went up, and do it all again next week. With your ad account connected to AI, the numbers come straight from Meta and the AI drafts the explanation. You check it, add your judgement, and send.

Who this is for

Freelancers reporting to clients, in-house marketers reporting to a boss, and business owners who just want a clear weekly record for themselves.

What you need

  • AdChat connected to Claude, ChatGPT, another MCP app, or the built-in chat at adchat.app.
  • No write access needed. Reports only read data.
  • A few minutes to review what the AI writes. You know the context (a sale, a stock problem, a holiday) that the numbers don't show.

Terms your reader may need explained

If your report goes to someone who doesn't live in Ads Manager, define these once:

  • Results: the goal you're paying for, like leads or purchases.
  • Cost per result (CPA): spend divided by results.
  • ROAS (return on ad spend): revenue from ads divided by ad spend. Example: $500 in sales from $100 of ads is a ROAS of 5.
  • CTR: the share of people who saw an ad and clicked it.
  • Frequency: how many times each person saw an ad on average.

Step 1: Pull this week vs last week

Compare my ad account's last 7 days with the 7 days before. Show spend, impressions, clicks, CTR, results, cost per result, and purchase value and ROAS if available. Include the percentage change for each.

AdChat gets these numbers from Meta with get_insights, which supports ranges like the last 7 days, last week (Monday to Sunday) or any custom dates.

What a good answer looks like: a clean two-column table with changes, and no invented metrics. If something isn't tracked (no purchase value, for example), the AI should say so rather than guess.

For calendar weeks:

Use last week, Monday to Sunday, and compare it with the week before that.

Step 2: Explain what changed

Explain the three biggest changes between the two weeks. For each, show which campaign or ad caused it. Keep it factual and short.

This is the part that usually takes longest by hand. Check it against what you know. If the AI says "results fell because the 'Spring' campaign spent less", and you know you paused it on purpose, add that.

Step 3: Add the details your reader cares about

Different readers want different things. Pick what fits:

Add a section with the top three and bottom three ads by cost per result this week.

Add a breakdown of results by age group and by placement for this week.

For each campaign, show this week's spend against its budget.

Step 4: Write the report

Write a weekly report for my client from all of the above. Structure: a three-sentence summary at the top, a results table, what changed and why, what we did this week, and what we plan next week. Plain English, no jargon, under 400 words. Format it so I can paste it into an email.

Then fill in the "what we did" and "what's next" parts with your actual actions, or ask the AI to draft them from what you discussed in the chat.

What a good report looks like: someone who never opens Ads Manager can read the first three sentences and know whether the week was good, bad or flat, and why.

Step 5: Share it

AdChat doesn't send emails or produce designed PDF reports. The simple route is:

  • Email: paste the text straight into your email.
  • Doc or slides: paste into Google Docs, Word or Notion. Ask the AI to format the tables as Markdown or as plain tab-separated text, depending on where you're pasting.
  • Spreadsheet: ask for the table as CSV and paste it into Google Sheets or Excel.

Give me the results table as CSV so I can paste it into Google Sheets.

Make it a routine

Save your best prompt in a note. Each week, paste it in, review, adjust and send. If you manage several accounts, name the account in the first line:

For the ad account "Bloom Florist", compare last week with the week before...

What to do next

Common mistakes

  • Sending without checking. The AI explains numbers; you know the business context. Always read before sending.
  • Mixing date ranges. Compare equal periods. Seven days against seven days.
  • Too many numbers. A client wants to know if it's working. Lead with the summary, keep the detail below.
  • Hiding bad weeks. A short honest explanation of a bad week builds more trust than a vague one.
  • Ignoring attribution delays. Some conversions are recorded a few days after the click, so the most recent days can look low at first. Mention this if you report on Monday morning.

FAQ

Can AdChat email the report automatically every Monday? No. AdChat works only when you ask. There's no scheduled or automatic reporting.

Can I make a branded PDF? Not inside AdChat. Paste the text into your own template in Google Docs or Word and export a PDF from there.

Can my client log in and see it? AdChat has one login per account and no team seats. You share the report text; the client doesn't need AdChat.

Can I report on several weeks at once? Yes. Ask for weekly figures for the last four or eight weeks in one table to show the trend.
