Create a New Facebook Ad Based on Your Best Ad, With AI
Use what works in your top Facebook or Instagram ad to build a fresh version: upload a new image from a link or reuse a post, write new copy, and create it paused.
Updated October 24, 2026
When an ad works, the natural next step is to make another one like it before the first one wears out. Doing that in Ads Manager means a lot of copying and pasting. In chat, you point at the winner, give the AI a new image or an existing post, and it builds a new ad in the same place, paused and ready for you to check.
Who this is for
Advertisers who know which ad is their best performer and want fresh variations of it, or who want to turn a popular organic post into an ad.
What you need
- Write access turned on in your AdChat dashboard. Uploading images and creating creatives and ads are changes.
- A winning ad. If you're not sure which one, start with ad creative analysis.
- One of these:
- A new image at a direct link that ends in the image itself, such as
https://yoursite.com/images/new-photo.jpg. A link to a Google Drive preview page or a social post won't work as an image link. - An existing Facebook or Instagram post you want to promote.
- A video already in your ad account. AdChat can't upload new videos.
- A new image at a direct link that ends in the image itself, such as
A quick word on how ads are built
On Meta, an ad creative is the content: image or video, text, headline, link and button. An ad places that creative inside an ad set, which decides who sees it and the budget. So making a new ad has two parts: create the creative, then create the ad that uses it.
Step 1: Study the winner
Show me the full creative of my best ad from the last 30 days by cost per result: image, primary text, headline, description, call-to-action button and link. Also tell me which ad set it's in.
This uses get_ad_creatives and get_ad_image. What a good answer looks like: all the pieces laid out clearly, plus the ad set name and ID, so you know where the new ad will go.
Step 2: Plan the variation
Change one main thing at a time so you can tell what made the difference.
I want a new version of this ad. Keep the same offer and link. Write three new versions of the primary text and headline that keep what works (the opening question and the free shipping line) but try different angles. Keep them short.
Pick one, or ask for edits until you like it.
Step 3a: Use a new image
Upload this image to my ad account: https://example.com/images/spring-photo.jpg
AdChat uses upload_ad_image to fetch the image from the link and gives back an image hash, Meta's ID for that image. You don't need to remember it; the AI uses it in the next step.
Create a new ad creative with that image, version 2 of the text, the same headline style, the "Shop Now" button and the same link and Page as my winning ad. Show me the full creative before you create it.
Step 3b: Or promote an existing post
If an organic post did well, you can turn it into an ad and keep its likes and comments.
Open the post on Facebook, copy its link, and paste it into the chat:
Create an ad creative from this post on my Page: https://www.facebook.com/yourpage/posts/123456789. Show me the details before you create it.
If the AI can't work out the post from the link, it will ask for the Page ID and post ID instead.
AdChat's create_ad_creative tool supports existing posts, an uploaded image, or a video already in your account.
Step 4: Create the ad (paused)
Create a new ad called "Spring Photo - v2 copy" in the same ad set as my winning ad, using the creative we just made. Keep it paused.
New ads are created paused. AdChat shows the change and asks before it runs it.
Step 5: Review and turn it on
Show me the new ad's details: name, ad set, status, text, headline, button and link.
Also check the preview in Ads Manager, where Meta shows exactly how it looks in each placement. If something's off, ask the AI to fix it:
Change the headline on the new ad's creative to "Spring candles are back".
When it's right:
Turn on the ad "Spring Photo - v2 copy".
What to do next
- Give the new ad a week, then compare it with the original in ad creative analysis.
- If the original is clearly worn out, pause it: find wasted ad spend.
- Want to show it to people who visited your site? See retargeting website visitors.
Common mistakes
- Image links that aren't images. The link must open the image file directly. Test it in a browser first.
- Changing everything at once. New image, new text and new offer together tell you nothing about what worked.
- Adding too many ads to one ad set. Meta tends to favour one or two ads anyway. A few strong options beat a crowd of weak ones.
- Forgetting Meta's ad review. New ads are reviewed by Meta before they deliver. That can take some time after you turn them on.
- Wrong Page. If you manage several Pages, check the creative uses the right one.
FAQ
Can AdChat duplicate my ad or campaign in one step? No. AdChat doesn't do one-click duplication or bulk edits. It builds a new creative and ad from the pieces you choose, which also means you can check each part.
Can I upload a video? No. You can reuse a video already in your ad account, or upload it in Ads Manager first.
Will the new ad reset learning? Adding an ad to an ad set can affect delivery while Meta tests it. Adding one at a time keeps the disruption small.
Can I create the ad active straight away? Yes, if you ask for that explicitly. Paused is the default because it gives you a chance to review first.
